Holden Rowe

We just love  Holden!  He is getting so fun.  I don't know what I would do with out Holden.  He seriously is such a good kid and good person. Few people are as good as this kid.  The funny thing about Holden is nobody drives me more nuts, or makes me more proud!  And if you know him, you understand this.  He gets so hyper, and it's almost like his eyes get glazed over, and then you know you have lost him, haha!  He has always been this way.  Honestly deep down we have worried about a little ADHD, but this kid the second you give him "busy" work, can sit there all day.  He has know problem staying on track!  He is just really happy we decided, and I'm okay with that.  He is such a neat kid.  He is constantly making up games, or scavenger hunts for the neighbor kids.  He will give away everything he owns to be nice.  This makes me nuts!  He loves to read, and work on projects.  He LOVES his family, and would do anything for any of us!! This is an understatement.  He is so unbelievably sweet and worries about everyone's feelings in the room.  If Rye or I are going to the store, he is the first to jump up to give company, just because he worries about us being alone.  He will get so upset and even cry like if Rye leaves him, when he knows Rye wanted him to go with him.  He constantly writes us all letters and tells us how much he loves us.  Even with the baby.  Recently Knox, who happens to ridiculously take Holden for granted, hurt Holden.  He demands Holden play with him, and gets very upset him Holden needs a break.  Anyway Holden cried, then I got mad at Knox, then Knox through a fit....you know how it goes=)  Anyway 30 minutes or so later, Holden came up to me and whispered in my ear, "Mom, look what I made for Knox, (it was a letter written in an envelope, with Poke cards and money taped on the outside)  Mommy, I did this so Knox knows he is loved.  I really want him to know that it is good to do nice things for people you love.."  Knox later opened it and had me read it to him.  He smiled and smiled!  But that is Holden for you.  He is so wise.  It amazes me.  He wrote me a letter a few days ago that said the reason he loves me so much is because he loves that when he is good and chooses the right he knows it makes me so happy, and he knows that means I am a good mom.  He is thoughtful.
He also is still a bit OCD.  He writes agendas for everything.  We go on a hike, he makes me an agenda.  He has an agenda glued to his wall for his daily tasks, and also a sign saying how much he loves his family=)
He is so smart and teaches me things.  He loves to learn, and I spend a great deal of time talking with him.
He is kinda odd!  For example for his birthday he wanted to get CPR certified, ya know just in case someone quiets breathing. =) He also for his birthday got rocks, and crystal kits.  He loves learning, and those kind activities.  For his Birthday his grandma and grandpa came up.  Rye and I tricked everyone and hid Holdens presents, and wrapped false ones.  It was so bad, and mean, but funny!  We wrapped up a "Lorenzo Snow church Manuel," a candy bar, and a cheap slinky.  Ryes mom and dad were shocked and  poor Deb, looked like she was going to cry for the poor kid.  But Holden was so nice, and acted happy and surprised.  You could sense the disappointment though.  But we acted like there was a knock at the door and sent him on a scavenger hunt to find his real stuff, and he was spoiled!  But the funny thing about him, is guess what he took to church and I've found him reading all week??  That church manual! He  is just nice like that.
Rye and him were driving all the way back from UT, and Rye went to stop for food, this has happened a lot to, and Holden will refuse to get anything.  He would starve before breaking the Sabbath. He is just special! Before he was born, I knew I was getting a good one.  I hope I can do something right and keep him good....but the truth is he keeps us good, all of us.
We love you Hogie Bear..

This post made me tear up a little bit! That's the kind of boy every Mom hopes her son will be, and I think it's so awesome that you have such a little sweetheart on your hands. You are Rye sure are great parents!
